Designated as a historical monument in 1995.

Facing the ocean and sheltered from view, the Villa Leihorra was built on the Bordagain Hill from 1926 by the architect Joseph Hiriart for his mother-in-law Caroline Signoret. A quintessential Art Déco house, it has simple and typical volumes: its main façade includes a monumental stained-glass window designed by Jacques Gruber which alludes to the richness of the volumes and decorations inside. The patio and bathroom, restored in 2011, are highlights of this building, which saw very talented craftsmen such as Daum and Schwartz practice their art. The villa is open onto the ocean from its rotunda and has “outside rooms” designed by the landscapers Gélos. These “outside rooms” include a rose garden, ponds and a pediment organised in a geometric pattern typical of Art Déco gardens.
