Designated as a historical monument in 1925.
The fountain, which belongs to the imposing ship-owner house called Olhet Baita, dates back from 1676 and was the source of water for the town centre until the beginning of the 20th century. This monumental fountain was designed like an obelisk, crowned by a pyramidion and decorated with two caravels, a horse and an oak tree, and it showed the opulence of the seaside resort. Upstream of the fountain, at the foot of one of the typical stairways of Ciboure, the overflow sedimentation tank used to filter the water coming from the Bordagain Hill.
