    17 Rue de la République
    64500 Saint-Jean-de-Luz

Designated as a historical monument in 1996.

This house, the only surviving building following the sacking of the Spanish troops in 1558, dominates the oldest district of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. From the Rue de la République, its tall corner watchtower and its monumental character give away the fact that it was owned by a ship-owner. The main façade also clearly shows the wealth of its owner with its cut stones, its mullioned windows, its doors with wide arch stones as well as its wide eaves supported by cantilever beams adorned with solar decorations.
