This flagship hotel, then called Modern Hotel, was built in 1906 on the site of the old Terminus Hotel, when the seaside resort was first created, in order to meet the strong demand for holiday accommodation from the upper-class. In 1909, a rotunda with direct view on the beach was added, which brought Art Nouveau elements to this Belle Epoque (turn of the 20th century) building. In 1980, the hotel was renamed Grand Hotel and, in 2015, the inside of the building underwent a significant restoration. Its façade still has the characteristic elements of seaside resort architecture, i.e. the inclusion of many openings and balconies to take advantage of the sea air, then considered healing.
