Permanent exhibition

The CIAP Les Récollets is found in a historical monument of 1000 m2, an old convent from the 17th century, and its backbone is a permanent exhibition pathway which invites you to explore the sea adventure of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure in a playful manner.

Get immersed in the exhibition through interactive games, mapping, films, soundtracks, manipulable models and a materials library. The heritage of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure is displayed in different spaces:

  • Cloître (Cloister): Life in the convent
  • Room 1: History of the territory, evolution of the towns and of the architecture
  • Room 2: History of the Récollets Convent, from its creation to its restoration
  • Room 3: Sea adventure at the heart of the territory

Furthermore, an exhibition pathway for young people is available alongside the main permanent exhibition and allows children to be active participants in their learning.

Temporary exhibitions

Throughout the year, the CIAP Les Récollets allows visitors to explore the various features of heritage via temporary exhibitions which are displayed in dedicated spaces:

  • Ancienne Chapelle (Old Chapel): for large-scale temporary exhibitions.
  • Belvédère (Belvedere): for smaller scale temporary exhibitions.
